Logo Design for Unacademy Centre

The project involved a brand extension exercise for Unacademy, a well-established online learning platform. The task was to create a logo for a new entity, “Unacademy Centre,” that would leverage the existing brand equity of Unacademy while distinguishing itself as a unique product line. This involved using the same color scheme, typography, or iconography in a new way, similar to how Amazon extended its brand from books to a wide range of products.

 

Approach

Multiple designs were explored, playing with different arrangements of iconography and text, and experimenting with variations in color tones and typeface weights. Each iteration was evaluated against criteria of brand consistency, visibility, and distinctiveness. This iterative process is crucial in brand extension, as it allows for fine-tuning the new product’s design to ensure it aligns with the parent brand while also standing out as a unique offering.

The design process involved several iterations, experimenting with different arrangements of iconography and text, variations in color tones, and typeface weights. Each iteration was evaluated for its alignment with the Unacademy brand and its distinctiveness as a new product line. This iterative process is a key aspect of diversifying a brand’s offerings, allowing for the fine-tuning of the new product’s identity.

Nimbus Sans DV, a straightforward geometric sans font, complements the Averta typeface harmoniously. Its design guarantees visual uniformity across the diverse languages our business communicates in.These are used for print signages in the state of Maharashtra.

Conclusion

The final logo seamlessly blends the iconic blue and green hues of Unacademy with a refreshed typographic style. It maintains required brand continuity while also signalling the specialised offerings of Unacademy Centre. The logo incorporates elements from the Unacademy logo but introduces distinct features to represent this specific centre. 

The typography is similar but has slight modifications to distinguish it from the parent brand. The word “centre” is added after “unacademy” in matching typography, indicating an extension or specialized segment of Unacademy. This successful brand extension allows Unacademy to diversify its offerings and increase market share.
